In my honest opinion, there aren't enough serene or pleasant games in this world.

Two of the first words that spring to mind the very first time you clap eyes on Guppy's watercolour pond life are - you guessed 'em - 'serene' and 'pleasant'.

I mean, life as a fish ain't so bad.

At first, the maker of Guppy may seem to offer you nothing more than just a swell place to chill out and go for a virtual swim. There are schools of colourful fish peacefully weaving between the pond's foliage, and the game's pastel colours don't exactly scream 'danger, danger'.

If you think there's no challenge to Guppy, however, you are sorely mistaken.

At its heart is a high score-chasing arcade game, you see. It's just presented in a slightly different way from the norm.

Put simply, you must find flies. If you eat a fly, you gain a single point. So, yep, you should gobble as many flies as possible.

But don't stay in the open water too long, for a larger fish will pursue you and line its stomach with your carcass if you're not careful. Fortunately, you can hide in the shadows of the lily pads.

You can download Guppy right now for £1.25 on Google Play. Do so quietly, please, mind.
