Android gamers should keep an eye out for retro adventure Inexistence

| Inexistence

The team behind Inexistence wants to recreate the look and feel of classic games like Castlevania, Metroid, Mario, and Mega Man.

As such, Inexistence is a 2D action platformer with some light RPG elements, and plenty of colourful pixel art. It will be heading to Android around summer 2014.

You play as Hald, who is a young warrior who sets out to rescue his kidnapped sister from a distant castle. The journey is a treacherous one, and leads Hald across caverns, forests, and dark villages.

To fight back the weird and sometimes gruesome enemies, Hald has a blade which issues a powerful strike. Over time he'll also be able to cast by acquiring magical items.

Killing enemies gives Hald experience, and you'll be able to level up his abilities when you accumulate enough of it.

Levelling up helps with progression, but sometimes you'll need new abilities. An example would be the double jump, which is used to reach previously out-of-reach areas.

If you can, I'd recommend playing the Windows-only demo [download] of Inexistence. It offers a good slice of the game for you to feel out.

Inexistence seems to be a fun action platformer with areas worth exploring, especially because of the peculiar characters you come across. It's worth tracking the devlog as you wait for the Android edition to come out.
