Florence tops the mobile category at The Game Awards in Los Angeles
Narrative game from the designer of Monument Valley takes top US prize
At the time, we called it "an intriguing experience" with "an indefatigable sweetness that never edges into the saccharine."
Now Florence, from Monument Valley's Ken Wong, has topped the 2018 mobile category at The Game Awards, taking place this evening at the Microsoft Theater in LA. This means it beat popular titles Reigns and PUBG. Winner winner, chicken dinner, indeed.
Florence is an interactive storybook about the highs and lows of first love. We wish you could have seen more of it during The Game Show live stream, but - typically - the category was rushed through so the producers could get to the more visual console spectacles. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards took place in the evening of December 6. The winners were decided by a mixture of jury (90%) and public vote (10%). Other winners included streamer Ninja, picking up the Content Creator award, and PlayStation title God Of War which bagged Best Game Direction and Best Action/Adventure Game.
